Kind gestures: small acts of kindness between siblings
Siblings argue; that’s part of life. What’s easy to forget is how much joy they can bring each other. One small idea a day is often enough of a nudge.
Parents are quick to say “Be nice to each other”. It gets more concrete with a small idea a child can act on right away: inviting a sibling to a game they get to choose, saying something kind to them or helping with a chore.
How it works
With “Kind gestures”, each child gets one such idea for a sibling once a day, at a random time. There are 25 ideas across five areas: words, helping, together, surprises and consideration. An idea only comes back once all the others have had their turn.
- The idea appears at the top of the task list on “Today”, clearly highlighted.
- Once the child has done it, they tap “Done”. If it doesn’t fit today, they can pick another idea once a day.
- Only then does the sibling hear about it and can say thank you with one tap: “That made me happy”, “Thank you” or “That’s kind of you”.
- The thanks reaches the child, with a star if you like.
Optional and never counted
The idea is an offer. If it’s left alone, it quietly disappears in the evening. Rondino doesn’t count anything or keep streaks. If a child lets an idea go, they won’t hear about it. The joy is meant for the sibling and for the child who made it happen.
What you set
Under Settings › Stars and screen time you switch on “Kind gestures”. You choose the time window for the ideas (11 a.m. to 5 p.m. by default), decide about the star and switch off ideas that don’t suit your family. You need at least two children.
On your “Today” page you see for each child which idea they have and whether it’s done or has been thanked. A nice reason to ask about it at dinner.
Now and then, tell your children when you noticed a kind gesture yourself. That often means more than any star.
