One tablet for the whole family: each child with their own profile
Not every child has their own phone, and that’s fine. A shared tablet in the kitchen is enough, as long as each child has their own space on it and the parents have theirs.
A shared device has its advantages: it stays in one place, the children don’t take it to their rooms, and you can see when it’s being used. For it to work, each child needs their own way in, and the parents’ area stays closed.
Sign in once, then choose profiles
In Rondino, children don’t need an account of their own. A parent signs in once on the tablet. After that, each child taps “Switch profile”, picks themselves and enters their four-digit PIN. On “Today”, a tap on their own name works too.
Each child then sees only their own tasks, stars and notes. You change a child’s PIN under Settings › Family.
The parents’ area stays closed
Everyday things like “Today”, tasks and notes happen in the day app. Planning, analytics, rewards and settings live in the family console. It only opens with your parent PIN (4 to 6 digits) and stays open for 15 minutes after the last click. Going back to the day app needs no PIN.
So on the shared device, a child can’t hand out stars or delete tasks, even if you put the tablet down for a moment.
Like an app on the home screen
- iPhone and iPad: open Rondino in Safari, tap “Share” and choose “Add to Home Screen”. Then open Rondino from the new icon and sign in there.
- Android: in the Chrome menu, choose “Add to Home screen”.
- Each device can have its own language, which helps if several languages are spoken at home.
A phone of their own later on
When a child gets their own phone later, you sign in on it once and the child picks their profile. Everything they’ve done and collected so far is there straight away.
Give the tablet a fixed spot, for example next to the family calendar. Checking the day then becomes a habit.
